@natalie3690 also, keep in mind that she might be finding it hard to accept because she might have fears that it means shes a bad parent or she might have fears surrounding the stigma that’s sometimes associated with mental health. If you suspect this then try and ease her into it and reassure her, but don’t give up. Your mum needs to learn that you are suffering and this will unlikely go away on it’s own. It might help to tell her that it’s common (2-7%) and is a recognised treatable condition.

@natalie3690 It is difficult to say without knowing your exact situation, but often a good approach is to print out some information and ask them to read it and give them some time to think about it. It’s best to select something that’s from a professional source. There’s a short description if you search for “NIMH social phobia”. Then speak to her about it and try and be as honest as possible about how it’s affecting you.

Wow. Everything you just said I can relate to, but I can’t go to a group because my mom thinks there’s nothing wrong with me. 100% of what you said I can relate to, but I can’t get no help, because my mom won’t do anything to help me, and I cry every night because of this. I really want help and I’m afraid I’m going to get older and not be more socially active. How do I convince my mom to get me some help?

Mad and amateur are probably the right words to describe it! Its something I made in the early days after overcoming my social anxiety when I was having a go at understanding the principals and mechanisms of hypnosis. Its very different from my current work which doesnt include any hypnosis. I put it on the peer to peer networks to see how popular it would become but regrettably that means I can never remove it. Great to hear youve had some benefit from it though :-)

Do you know what Nick, you’re a total dude. I’ve been listening to some mad hypnosis recording you made for confidence and it’s really helped; it has a certain amateur charm about it ! Good on you mate.

Thanks for sharing. Some really interesting stuff.

I’m glad it worked out for you. I had no idea so many people were going through the same thing, and it’s very inspirational to hear someone like you say that you’ve overcome it.. I hope that I will be able to one day. I feel like I overcome certain things, but then other aspects get worse. Right now I worry about how I walk, walking too fast, and controlling my shaking. At times, I also feel stiff like a mannequin or something when I don’t want to observe my surroundings.
